This article provides a brief overview of the important role the human resource development function (HRD function) plays in an enterprise. The different challenges that will face enterprises in the future because of a changing national and international environment, are briefly outlined. The article also emphasises the fact that people are the most vital part of any organization and should be afforded the opportunity to realise their full potential. The way in which the management of organisations can manage the above successfully is to transform the HRD function and thus create opportunities for individuals to develop within the context of organizational realities |
