Title: Governmental relations in the management of the Cederberg Wilderness Area : some organisational aspects
Author: Smith, Frank
Abstract: The realisation of the goals of any public institution is dependent upon a proper organisational structure and sound governmental relations. Although the former has characteristics of the closed model of organisation, this is offset by the need for governmental relations both within, but especially with, the external environment of the institution concerned. These aspects had a profound influence on the management of the Cederberg Wilderness Area (CWA) in the northern section of the Western Cape province since the Dutch occupation of the Colony of the Cape of Good Hope (Cape Colony). Up to the present day a proper organisational structure and sound governmental relations still play a major role, not only in goal determination, but especially in goal realisation in the CWA.
