Title: All from the Same Source? Deconstructing a (male) Anthropocentric Reading of Job(3) through an Eco-bosadi Lens
Author: Masenya, Madipoane
Abstract: Using fundamentalism in the interpretation of the Christian Bible is not typical only to the African ecclesiastical settings. It is a global phenomenon. History / Herstory is replete with examples of the dire consequences of fundamentalist biblical interpretations concerning the household of God. According to the view of some scholars, Christianity as a religion has contributed to the present ecological crisis. The present article seeks to show some of the ways in which fundamentalist interpretations to the Christian Bible have impacted negatively on human relations with Earth and women; an impact which has partly contributed to the present ecological crisis. This article will also provide, by way of a re-reading of some the Hebrew Bible texts, one example of an earth/women-friendly reading of the book of Job.
