dc.description.abstract The article discusses some of the methodological problems raised by Georges Razafindrakoto's thesis 'Old Testament texts in Malagasy contexts'. Razafindrakoto's use of qualitative research methods as part of an Old Testament thesis is given particular attention, and a survey of his three case studies is provided, from Roman Catholic, Lutheran, and traditionalist contexts. In conclusion it is argued that Christianization processes in general - throughout history, and not only in Madagascar - interact positively with pre-Christian religion. en
