Research methodology, paradigms and philosophies are considered important frameworks to guide all research. However, the nature and connections between methodologies and philosophical applications are relatively unexplored. There is no systematic attempt to draw out in great detail the practical implications of the disparity between the importance of philosophies and paradigms, on the one hand, for conducting research, and their application, on the other hand. A qualitative summative content analysis explores the extent of the application based on 225 articles, representing three broad academic fields. The practical implication of the disparity between theory and practice at a post-graduate level is drawn. |
