dc.description.abstract Chapter 1 introduces the study. Chapter 2 discusses literal onomastics as a new literary theory to be used as an analytical tool in subsequent chapters. Chapter 3 presents naming practices and the plot in Kungenxa Kabani? (Whose fault is it?) and also in lnkinse/a YaseMgungundlovu (The V.1.P. of Pietermaritzburg). Chapter 4 discusses naming practices and theme in Kungenxa Kabani? (Whose fault is it?) and fnkinsela YaseMgungundlovu (The V.I.P. of Pietermaritzburg). Chapter 5 is the conclusion that looks back into the discussion of the four chapters and also gives observations, suggestions and recommendations. en
