dc.description.abstract This article focuses on the Kyoto Protocol’s Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) as a transition mechanism to Kenya’s green economy and the contribution of CDM projects towards sustainable development in Kenya. Accordingly, a positive checklist approach to sustainable development indicators was applied as informed by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The key findings were that the main sustainable development indicators claimed by CDM projects were local economy stimulation, job creation and poverty alleviation. en
