A personal vision for UCT's planning unit and planning of the Groote Schuur campus

Abstract

This presentation commences with a brief personal introduction and presents a Vision for the Physical Planning Unit (PPU)and the planning of the Uiversity of Cape Town's Groote Schuur Campus. Recomendations include firstly that a Vision for a green, heritage-rich, disabled-friendly and an appropriate developing campus should be implemented in partnership with students, clients, NGOs, other stakeholders, funders and other universities; and secondly that Upper and Middle campus spatial integration options, e.g. decking the freeway and the provision of a funicular system, should be considered.
