dc.description.abstract A review of the Unisa Library conference on 'Rethinking the South African War 1899-1902' held in Pretoria between 3-5 August 1998.The conference provided an opportunity for a large number of scholars to delineate the contours of the debate about the war. It was also important for Unisa to host such an international event on the very site of the British headquarters in Pretoria during the war, and to bring a range of new perspectives to this most popular topic in South African history. en
