Abstract
The paper reflects on the user studies that were conducted for the development of a soccer results application that enables its users to access results of matches that have been recently played in the premier division of the PSL of South Africa through an Interactive Voice Response system. The intended users are characterised as oral users who are mostly male adults. We have obtained unexpected findings about the choice of English as the desired interaction language between the users and the BGR system which have influenced the design of the proposed system.
