Abstract

This study explores team-based leadership as a productive organizational behavior that contributes to social innovation. This study foregrounds innovation and leadership on the basis that when leadership and innovation concepts are adequately addressed, productive organizational behavior is influenced towards an intended and positive particular direction. It has also noted that leadership might change due to the phenomenon of short-termism of appointment of executives. This study has contributed to the field of linking team leadership with social innovation to various dimensions of social innovation and how these bring about productive organizational behavior in the organization. More so to that it has contributed to the theory of understanding the role of team leadership in the public sector in particular, and how it assists in dealing with the challenges of dynamic, complex society with differing and changing needs. The study has produced recommendations for the application of team leadership in organization and innovative ways of addressing the problem of short-termism of employment of Executives as it emerged as a challenge to the stability of team leadership.
