Abstract
While popular opinion holds that Buddhism and Christianity had very little contact before the 19th century, there are many indications that Buddhist ideas may have infiltrated Christendom at an earlier age. Buddhists, at the same time, were very familiar with the Nestorian variant of Christianity. Manichaeism served as a sort of bridge between the two traditions.
