dc.description.abstract Most of "the countries concerned cover almost all their needs in petroleum products. As a corollary, the local refinery industry - is keeping pace. With increased demand and any extension to or improvement in the refinery could be carried out faster- if tenders were offered to engineering firms. Apart from the Suez refineries which have been repairedr only one refinery out of the already existing ones will probably be extended and start production by 197Or namely the Alexandria refinery'in the UARP owned by the Alexandria Petroleum. "This refinery will increase its annual capacity from lt400E000 tons to 2c5OO.OOO tons;, the engineering firm is Technoexport (Czechoslovakia), The other projected extensions in Morocco (Sidi Kacem and Mohammedia) and in Tunisia (Bizerta) which have not been confirmed' are not expected at least within the next four years to increase the production of these countries.
