dc.description.abstract	The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) took an unprecedented step of marking its 40th Anniversary by convening an International Conference on the theme, "African Women and Economic Development: Investing in Our Future" in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. During this memorable event which started on Tuesday 28 April 1998, the UN Conference Centre was inaugurated by The UN Secretary-General, Mr Kofi Annan.
