Manual for authority file development for members of the PADIS network

Abstract

The structure of the list of Authority File is designed to permit effective retrieval of information. Since a large number of development information is authored by corporate entities, the list will be a powerful tool to retrieve information from computerized files during either an on-line search or an automatic production of index. The list is done on a single-level entry in which separate records are not created in the list for divisions and branches of an institution. Only the parent body is enclosed into the list. In terms of language features the list presently contains English, French and Portuguese languages.
