dc.description.abstract This report was prepared for the Sixth African Regional Conference on Women held in Addis Ababa from 22 to 27 November 1999. The Conference provided an opportunity to review the overall implementation of the African Platform for Action adopted in November 1994 and the Beijing Platform for Action adopted in September 1995. The report assesses, in particular, the commitments made by Governments and United Nations Agencies to promote the participation of women in peace processes. It further examines the national, subregional and regional mechanisms for monitoring the Platform for Action. The report contains the views and recommendations of participants attending the Sixth African Regional Conference, who participated in the workshop on women and peace held during the conference.
