dc.description.abstract	This paper reviews the field and practice of knowledge management (KM) and elucidates KM's corporate, national and regional perspectives. It outlines policy implications for African development in the evolving globalised knowledge-based economy. It attempts to place KM in the context of the proposed African Virtual Library and Information Network (AVLIN) as a suitable platform for e-learning and exchange of knowledge objects, including digital content and innovative ideas.
