dc.description.abstract A two-unit intermittently used standby system when it is not under perpetual vigil is studied. Our interest centers on Bayesian estimation of stationary rate of disappointments, assuming an informative prior for the unknown parameters in the model. Gibbs sampling is used to derive the posterior distribution of the stationary rate of disappointments and subsequently the highest posterior density (HPD) intervals. A simulation study illustrates the results. en
