The year, 1998, saw the reopening of the UNISA Centre
for Applied Psychology (UCAP) by Juan Nel, a man with a
vision, to create a ‘space’ where people and professionals
alike could be empowered. With this in mind, UCAP
was born. Initially offering a number of workshops and
short courses pertinent to the development of people
and communities alike, UCAP has grown through the
years into a reality that has added value to the lives of
many, with thousands of people benefitting through skills
and professional development. Its involvement now also
includes research and community engagement.
Like any vision, UCAP has had to overcome obstacles to be
where it is today and may have many more to overcome,
however UCAP has soldiered on to become one of the
top accredited short learning programme providers in the
country.
As we celebrate this milestone – the 10th anniversary of
UCAP’s existence – we take a step back to reflect on the
past decade, acknowledging the rivers that we have had
to cross and the mountains that have had to be climbed,
as well as the achievements that have come with those
challenges. Join us as we take a short journey through
UCAP over the past decade. |
