dc.description.abstract This paper suggests an approach for the selection of microcomputer equipment in a decentralised environment. It is based on a modification of the procedure of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) by T. Saaty. The structuring of the selection procedure allows top-level management decisions to be propagated down the organisational structure. An illustration of this idea is its implementation for the selection of hardware and software in a university environment but it may be applied also for decisions in other areas as well. en
