dc.description.abstract When I graduated from university in the 90s, The Environment was the most fashionable word. With a background in Zoology, I was not sure whether to go into wildlife conservation or continue with parasitology, which formed the core of my undergraduate research. In 1998 a Common Wealth Fund for Technical Cooperation Bursary took me to Botswana to study Environmental Sciences at Master’s level. There I met two enthusiastic scientists, Professor Totolo a soil scientist, and Prof Ekosse, a geologist/environmental scientist. I soon became infected with soil science and environmental science and so began my journey with environmental soil science en
