dc.description.abstract The objective of the conference was to explore whether existing labour practices amongst the leadership in the labour movement is also aimed at: 1. contributing in and through ethical labour practices to a morally transformed society; 2. empowering labour leaders and workers for human development and nation building through ethical leadership; 3. building mutual ethical relationships with all other stakeholders (workers, society, media, business, government, etc); and 4. transforming socio-economic conditions and practices in disadvantaged communities through ethical leadership. The conference did seek to explore what these practices are, raised awareness of the same and assisted in the further development of these practices. The sought outcomes of the conference were: (1) Labour leaders identify ethical labour best practices; (2) Labour leaders apply ethical labour practices in order to realise a morally transformed society; (3) Labour leaders incorporate (integrate) labour practices which would foster nation building, ethical leadership and ultimately a moral transformed society; (4) To conduct negotiations ethically with stakeholders in order to uphold the best interests of workers and the South African community; and (5) Labour negotiations facilitate moral transformation through the empowerment of workers. en
