dc.description.abstract Efforts to resolve the continent's conflicts and post-conflict reconstruction should consider the utilisation of space-related science. Satellite imagery can, for example, assist in the activities of undemocratic rebel groups, and state's undermining the human security of their population. It can also be used for forensic purposes to, for example, locate mass graves as a result of conflicts and genocides. The paper intends to analyse the use of space-related science to assist the continent in conflict resolution and post-conflict reconstruction. It will also make the case for a dedicated directorate for the African Space Agency to focus on conflict resolution and post-conflict resolution. en
