The author discusses the musical staging of Italian double bass player and composer Roberto Bonati of his extended composition of "The Blanket of the Dark: A Study for Lady Macbeth" at the International Spring Music Festival in 2009, which was sponsored by the Department of Music at Rhodes University in South Africa. He presents a background information about Bonati's "The Blanket of the Dark" ensemble. He describes the opportunities and learning experience for a student ensemble to perform such a complex and emotionally charged music. |
