dc.description.abstract A quantitative, descriptive study was used to investigate factors contributing to the treatment interruption of tuberculosis (TB) patients in four Tembisa clinics in South Africa. A structured interview schedule was used to collect data from 30 patients who had interrupted their TB treatment. Factors influencing treatment interruptions included socio-economic, TB policy-related and health care worker-related issues. The findings revealed that TB management requires a multi-sectoral approach and joint efforts to control this disease which is curable but continues to kill many people. en
