Abstract

This paper covers the year 1952, significant as the commemoration year of the arrival of Jan van Riebeeck 300 years before in the country. It is also the year in which the 'High Court of Parliament Act' was passed, and the ANC launched the non-violent civil disobedience movement. Race relations have deteriorated and the spotlight of world publicity is focussed on the Union of South Africa. (1952-1953).
