Title: The adaptation and evaluation of a measure of organizational culture in the mining industry in South Africa
Author: Prem, Shobhana
Abstract: The aim of this research was to adapt and evaluate a measure of organizational culture for use in the mining industry in South Africa. The importance of this study lies in the fact that norms for the measure of organizational culture in the mining industry are not currently available. This research document details the process that was followed to establish a list of items that would measure organizational culture. In order to do this, theories of organizational culture were studied. The knowledge gained from this process resulted in the Denison‟s Organizational Culture Survey being adapted to measure organizational culture in the mining industry. For the purpose of this study a quantitative methodology was adopted using opportunity sampling. The sample (n=147) was obtained from three mining companies.
