dc.description.abstract In this paper a closer look is taken at the role that creativity plays in the design process. The purpose of the paper is to establish whether creativity is an essential ingedient in the design process. 'Design' and 'Creativity' are defined, and the role of creativity in the design process is situated in a three-phase model. In conclusion, the role of creativity at the macro, meso and micro design levels in town & regional planning is considered. en
