Abstract:
|
At some point or other we pursue further studies to improve the quality of our professional
and personal lives. Yet the education and training industry continues to grow outside the
traditional boundaries of formal education institutions. Associated with this growth is the
proliferation of courses on the Web, some of which will be of questionable quality. This article
outlines basic implications that the online choice has for prospective students. Snippets of
student experiences are included to illustrate how online courses might fail to match
individuals' needs. Nevertheless the role of technology in education is appreciated. |
