dc.description.abstract Discipleship in the Fourth Gospel indicates a personal relationship between Jesus and his disciples. This relationship is modelled on the Father-Son relationship which is elucidated by the agency model. The descent-ascent schema forms the setting of this concept with the Johannine dualism as the determining factor for this schema. The agency motif constitutes the conceptual framework from which discipleship flows. en
