dc.description.abstract Community engagement research project: Southern Cape Towards didactic scaffolding in search of a leadership pedagogy: Promoting learning participation in community-based organisations This is a collaborative retrospective and introspective study of more than 40 years of spiritual and faith learning and teaching (Coetzee 2019). Retrospective in the sense of a historical review of the didactics of leadership education by Coetzee (2019); and my own personal knowledge and experiences of learning and teaching. Recent collaboration with Coetzee (2019) in the Southern Cape evolved into a search for the following question: Why so many of the youth he taught developed into some of the most prominent leaders on all levels of the South African society? What did he do right; and How did he construct his teaching ministry? It is for this reason that I reflect, in a narrative sense, on the teaching and learning practices that informed and shaped our young perceptions, worldviews and progressive action. Another reason for this study, is to offer some options for the general dysfunctionality of Christian education in established churches and community-based organisations en
