dc.description.abstract The evaluation of selection criteria for the admission of first year Computer Science students has been an ongoing project at the University of Port Elizabeth since 1984. Various selection criteria and methods, for example aptitude tests and mathematical ability, have been evaluated over the past number of years. This article reports the findings on setting selection criteria and standards that have been established for 1992 first year Computer Science students using matriculation results. en
