dc.description.abstract Recognizing that a parent is a key role player in fighting HIV/AIDS, the researcher conducted a study to examine and describe the knowledge parents have of this disease and its virus. The study was conducted among a sample of 100 parents/guardians, using a questionnaire to examine the respondents' conceptual, episodic, descriptive, procedural and declarative knowledge of HIV/AIDS. The study found that the respondents lacked especially conceptual and declarative knowledge and that the main factor contributing to knowledge is the level of education. en
