Dr Allan Aubrey Boesak was inter alia an anti-apartheid activist, cleric and politician. He rose to prominence during the 1980s as an outspoken critic and opponent of the National Party's policies and played a major anti-apartheid activist role.&#13;

Inventories, were created as each new donation was received.&#13;
&#13;
This collection contains video tapes made by the Dutch company NCRV and various other individuals pertaining to Reverend Boesak.  It also includes two televised interviews by John McClaughlin (USA) and Dali Tambo (SA), as well as a series of seminars conducted by Allan and Elna Boesak under the banner of the Foundation for Peace and Justice. &#13;
The quality of the images and sound has deteriorated.  Both VHS and BETA formats, were used for capturing information

The records described in this inventory are in paper format and cover the period from 1997 to 2000, when Dr Boesak was involved in legal proceedings (after allegations that he misappropriated funds whilst director of the Foundation for Peace and Justice).&#13;
&#13;
The records are mainly secondary in nature with notes from legal representative and consist of bound, printed copies prepared by Sneller Transcriptions. This is not a complete reproduction of the legal proceedings.  &#13;
The collection also includes correspondence that Dr Boesak received during his incarceration in Malmesbury and Goodwood prisons.

This collection of audio tapes consists of a large amount of sermons, lectures and speeches by Dr Allan Boesak.  Other notable political figures’ speeches include Charles Villa Vicencio, Franklin Sonn and Tokyo Sexwale.&#13;
Dust and heat has affected the sound quality of the recordings.  These audio records have been migrated to CD-ROM, with the cooperation of the SABC to ensure their preservation.
